Measuring the levels of bitumen in storage tanks is a complex task due to the highly viscous and sticky nature of the material. Bitumen tends to stick to the tank’s walls, making it difficult to obtain accurate readings. In addition, the industry requires a system that can control tank levels to ensure optimal production efficiency. Our client is a large bitumen manufacturer, who required a solution that could overcome these challenges and provide them with accurate and real-time level readings for each tank. They also needed a system that could control the tank levels to ensure that the bitumen supply was continuous and consistent.

Dpstar understands the unique challenges faced by our client in accurately measuring and controlling the levels of bitumen in storage tanks. We work closely with our clients to understand their specific requirements and provide tailored solutions that meet their needs. Our team of experts has extensive experience and knowledge of the latest technologies and trends in the industry, and we use this expertise to deliver innovative solutions that help our clients optimize their production processes. We are committed to providing the highest level of support and service to our clients and ensuring that their systems are reliable, efficient, and fully operational. The main objective of this project was to design and install a Bitumen Tank Level Monitoring & Control System, which could accurately measure the levels of eight different-sized tanks, and control the levels to ensure optimal production efficiency.

Dpstar designed a comprehensive solution that integrates FATEK PLC and BEIJER touchscreen technology to monitor and control the bitumen levels in the tanks. Our solution included the installation and commissioning of the system to ensure seamless operation and minimal downtime. Our Bitumen Tank Level Monitoring and Control System uses pressure calculation to monitor the bitumen levels in the tanks. Each tank is equipped with a pressure sensor that measures the pressure exerted by the bitumen on the tank walls. The data from these sensors is then transmitted to the FATEK PLC, which processes the data and sends it to the BEIJER touch screen for display. The BEIJER touchscreen provides real-time monitoring of the bitumen levels in each tank, allowing the operators to quickly identify any discrepancies or anomalies. The system also includes an alarm function that alerts the operators in case of critical events, such as high or low levels of bitumen in the tanks.

Our Bitumen Tank Level Monitoring and Control System has been a great success, providing our client with a reliable and efficient solution that has improved their operational efficiency and reduced downtime. The system’s real-time monitoring and control capabilities have ensured consistent temperatures in the tanks, resulting in stable bitumen levels and improved product quality.
