With the demand for the effective use of water resources and the supply of high-quality water, there has been a growing demand for seawater desalination systems. A seawater treatment plant was designed as one of the solutions for quality water treatment. Seawater is highly salty water (TDS>=350000ppm), which make it cannot be directly used in our daily life. The objective of this project is to convert seawater into drinking water. Our Reverse Osmosis water desalination systems produce safe drinking water through the desalination of seawater or water treatment; suitable for any environment in which safe and consistent water quality is essential. Reverse osmosis membrane technology has enabled desalination systems to remove more than 98.5% of the salt from seawater and produce WHO drinkable water, which is more energy-saving, has high desalination and recovery rate, easy operation, and can use in any area.
Dpstar successfully designed and built a new control system for seawater reverse osmosis equipment and water management systems for a remote Island Resort in Sabah using FATEK programmable controllers as the main heart of the system and BEIJER touch screen to monitor and control the machine’s workability. The plant is fully automatic to ease the operation of the end user. All the materials are selected to guarantee the longest lifetime of the package and to minimize routine maintenance. The process begins by passing seawater (feed water) through various pre-filters to remove many of the solids and particles from the water. Before the feed water enters the RO membranes, an antiscalant is injected into the feed water and sent through the system. Feed water then goes through a reverse osmosis process, by employing a high-pressure pump to the pretreated seawater forcing it through a set of semi-permeable membranes at high pressure. The membrane lets water flow through it but blocks the salts. Finally, it is sterilized with a UV sterilizer system to kill any remaining bacteria and microbes. The result is clean potable drinking water.
The PLC control system takes care of the automatic operation and monitoring of the entire plant in real-time. Using a touching screen as a man-machine interface is more convenient for the operator to know the working stages and enables more accurate decision-making. The system has many advantages, such as energy saving, high efficiency, more safety, flexible control mode, and function extension easily.
