Lascar EL-USB-ACT is a standalone data logger that, when paired with a current clamp, is capable of measuring and storing up to 127,232 a.c. and d.c. current readings across a range of 0 to 1000A d.c. (0 to 723A for a.c.). In ‘energy monitoring’ mode, it converts this data into power, energy (utilizing a user-defined voltage value), and cost (with a user-supplied energy unit cost). Additionally, in millivolt measurement mode, it can directly measure voltage up to 1V d.c. (700mV a.c.).

Setting up the logger is straightforward, and accessing downloaded data is simple by connecting the data logger to a PC’s USB port and using the provided free software. This software incorporates a clamp scaling factor, enabling users to adjust the input-output ratio of amps to millivolts. The stored data can then be visualized through graphs, printed, and exported to other applications. The device’s high-contrast LCD screen displays various current, power, energy, and cost information, and with a single button press, users can cycle between the most recent, maximum, and minimum measurement values. Powered by 2 replaceable AA batteries, the data logger offers convenience and flexibility in monitoring and analyzing electrical data.
