Features

  • Smaller in diameter and lighter with the same allowable current, because the volume resistivity is 1/4 of nickel conductor.
  • Easy to process and wire, because it is softer than nickel conductor.
  • The thickness is 20-30 times of normal nickel-coated wire (1-5 μm). (Nickel vs. copper area ratio: approx. 28:72.)
  • The conductivity varies depending on changes in temperature. Even if used continuously under a temperature of 220℃, the conductivity varies only slightly.
  • The tensile strength varies only slightly when even if used under a temperature of 220℃.
  • Using nickel as the surface material, far more resistance to corrosion than copper wire.

Ninomiya TN200 is a type of cable featuring nickel-clad-copper conductors, known for their flexibility and exceptional resistance to heat and corrosion. These conductors are encased in a protective layer of glass fiber. The cables are designed to operate effectively at temperatures up to 220℃.

Construction

  • Conductor: Multiple strands of nickel-clad-copper wires are used, offering lower resistance and enhanced flexibility compared to pure nickel wire.
  • Insulation: The conductor is double-served with glass evenly, or if the conductor’s cross-sectional area is 8.0 Sq. or more, it’s braided with glass-yarn instead. A surface layer of silicone varnish further enhances insulation.
  • Color Coding: Standard cables are distinguishable by two red-spiraled stripes on a white background.

Applications for these cables include serving as lead wires in electric heaters and other high-temperature equipment, particularly where resistance to heat and corrosion are critical requirements.
