Application

  • PR Electronics 9106B is a 1- or 2-channel isolated 1:1 repeater barrier designed for intrinsic safety applications.
  • It supports 2-wire SMART transmitters and 2-wire SMART current sources, with bi-directional transfer capabilities for HART and BRAIN protocols.

Application Flexibility

  • PR Electronics 9106B can be installed in safe areas or Zone 2/Cl. 1, Div. 2 environments. It accepts signals from Zone 0, 1, 2, and Zone 20, 21, 22, including mining areas (Class I/II/III, Div. 1, Gr. A-G).
  • Outputs can be duplicated for redundancy across two different DCS/PLC/HMI systems or monitoring setups.

Safety and Functional Use

  • In safety-critical SIL (Safety Integrity Level) loops, PR Electronics9106B can function as a splitter:
    • SIL 2 applications utilize Channel 1 for the safety loop and Channel 2 for non-safety devices.
    • For SIL 3 requirements, both channels connect to the same safety PLC, with Channel 2 serving as a redundant diagnostic channel.

Advanced Features

  • Features include a detachable PR 45xx display, green and red front LEDs for operational status indication per channel.
  • Error event monitoring and cable break detection are facilitated through individual status relays or collective electronic signals via the power rail.
  • Suitable for systems up to Performance Level “d” as per ISO-13849.

Technical Specifications

  • Provides high galvanic isolation of 2.6 kVAC, fast response time of <5 ms, and high accuracy better than 0.1%.
  • Supports 2-wire transmitter supply greater than 16 V.

Mounting Options
