Matec-T MT8000F Thermocouple Multipoint Sensor – Contacting Fixture Design

The Maltec-T MT8000F Multipoint Sensor is adaptable, robust, and designed for lasting reliability and a long lifespan. It utilizes single ungrounded thermocouples for individual measurements, with a maximum of 20 measurement points. These sensors are to be used for temperature profile measurements where extremely detailed local resolution is unnecessary.

Configuration

You can order the Maltec-T MT8000F with or without a thermowell, and it available in three types of sensor configurations:

1) Individual Guide Tube Design
The individual guide tube design makes it easy to replace individual elements. Mineral insulated thermocouple elements are placed inside each guide tube and directed to the specific measuring spot. If ordered with spring-loaded fittings, you’ll have quick thermal response, but inside of the thermowell won’t be sealed. When ordered with compression fittings, the thermowell is sealed, but the thermal contact isn’t as effective.

2) Radial Spring Design
This design provides good thermal contact between the thermocouple and thermowell, which helps it respond quickly. A radial spring presses the thermocouple against the inside wall of the thermowell, and the flattened MI cable touches it completely. This setup guarantees the best response time. If you order it without a thermowell, it will be sent in a coil. You can’t replace the individual thermocouples.

3) Laminated Spring Design
This design provides good thermal contact between the thermocouple and thermowell, which helps it respond quickly. A laminated spring presses the thermocouple against the inside of the thermowell. This setup is good if the mounting flange is angled to the thermowell. The advantage of this design is that the sensor can bend to fit the shape of the thermowell, like an oil dipstick. If you order this sensor without a thermowell, it will be sent in a coil. The individual thermocouples can’t be replaced.
