PR Electronics 9116B-EMP – Universal Converter, EMPHASIS Assessed

Advanced features

  • Configuration and monitoring are facilitated through a detachable display front (PR4511/4501), enabling process calibration, signal and relay simulation.
  • Advanced relay configuration includes settings for setpoint, window, delay, sensor error indication, and power monitoring.
  • Configuration settings can be copied from one device to others of the same type using PR4511/4501.
  • Active input signals support Reduced Uo Ex data < 8.3 V.
  • Thermocouple inputs offer internal or external Cold Junction Compensation (CJC) for enhanced accuracy.
  • Both active and passive mA output can be achieved using the same two terminals.

Application

  • PR Electronics 9116B-EMP is mountable in safe areas, Zone 2 / Cl. 1 Div. 2, and can receive signals from Zone 0, 1, 2, as well as Zone 20, 21, 22, including M1 / Class I/II/III, Div. 1, Gr. A-G.
  • Capabilities include conversion and scaling of temperature, voltage, potentiometer, and linear resistance signals.
  • It serves as a power supply and signal isolator for 2-wire transmitters.
  • Error events and cable breakage can be monitored via individual status relays or collective electronic signals through the power rail.
  • PR Electronics 9116B-EMP is designed, developed, and certified for SIL 2 applications according to IEC 61508 standards.
  • It is suitable for use in systems up to Performance Level “d” according to ISO-13849.

Technical Characteristics

  • Operation status and malfunction are indicated by one green and one red front LED, while relay status is indicated by a yellow LED.
  • Galvanic isolation of 2.6 kVAC is maintained between input, output, and supply.
  • The device can be supplied separately or installed on the power rail, PR type 9400.

Mounting

  • Devices can be mounted vertically or horizontally with no spacing required between neighboring units.
